Sautéed Swiss Chard with Garlic & Citrus Vinaigrette

Looking for a simple side dish that’s rich in flavor and supports your health?
This Sautéed Swiss Chard with Garlic and Citrus Vinaigrette is not only vibrant and delicious—it’s packed with nutrients that support blood health, digestion, and energy.

At Alternative Health Care Concepts, we love spotlighting foods that naturally support balance, and Swiss chard is one of our favorites for its high iron, magnesium, and vitamin K content. When paired with the digestive benefits of garlic and the cleansing, Qi-moving energy of citrus, you’ve got a side dish that does more than just taste good.

Why It Works (From a Holistic View)

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Swiss chard helps nourish the Blood and supports the Liver. Garlic moves stagnant energy (Qi), while citrus helps “lift” digestion and refresh the system—making this dish a perfect complement to acupuncture care for fatigue, low iron, or sluggish digestion.

🥄 Recipe: Sautéed Swiss Chard with Garlic & Citrus

Servings: 2–3
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 6–8 minutes
Calories: ~120 per serving

🌿 Ingredients:

1 large bunch Swiss chard (about 6 cups, chopped with stems and leaves separated)
2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon olive oil
Juice of ½ lemon or 1 small orange
Zest of ½ lemon or orange (optional for brightness)
Sea salt and black pepper to taste

Optional: crushed red pepper flakes or a drizzle of honey for balance

👩‍🍳 How to Make:

Wash and chop the Swiss chard. Separate the stems from the leaves.
Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add garlic and chard stems. Sauté for 2–3 minutes until slightly softened.
Add the leaves and a pinch of sea salt. Cook for another 2–3 minutes, stirring until the greens are wilted and tender but still vibrant.
Turn off the heat. Drizzle with fresh citrus juice and a bit of zest.
Season to taste with pepper (and a tiny pinch of red pepper flakes if desired).

💚 Serving Tip:

Pair with grilled salmon, lentils, or a hearty quinoa bowl for a nourishing, blood-building meal.
