Gentle Qigong for Daily Digestive Support
Gut health is deeply connected to the flow of energy, or Qi, throughout the body. When Qi is stagnant or blocked, digestion can suffer—leading to symptoms like bloating, fatigue, constipation, or discomfort. One of the most accessible and effective tools for maintaining digestive balance is the ancient practice of Qigong.
At Alternative Health Care Concepts, we combine healing movement with holistic treatments like acupuncture in Burbank and Studio City to help our clients feel lighter, more energized, and in sync with their bodies.
🌱 What is Qigong?
Qigong (pronounced “chee-gong”) is a gentle system of breathwork, movement, and meditation used in TCM to cultivate internal energy and support organ health. It’s often described as “meditation in motion” and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
For digestion, Qigong helps to:
➡️Stimulate the digestive organs
➡️Promote the smooth flow of Qi and Blood
➡️Reduce stress and overthinking (which can harm the Spleen in TCM)
➡️Ease bloating, indigestion, and sluggish metabolism
2 Simple Qigong Exercises for Gut Health
Just 10 minutes each morning can do wonders for your gut. These beginner-friendly Qigong movements gently activate your core, stimulate your digestive meridians, and calm the mind.
✨ 1. “Lifting the Sky” (Opening the Chest and Gut)
How to Do It:
➡️Stand with feet shoulder-width apart.
➡️Inhale slowly through your nose as you raise your arms above your head, palms facing the sky.
➡️Stretch gently and feel your torso lengthen.
➡️Exhale slowly as you lower your arms back down, palms facing the floor.
➡️Repeat for 5–10 slow, mindful breaths.
Benefits:
This move opens the chest, stretches the stomach channel, and encourages circulation through the upper digestive tract.
✨ 2. “Massaging the Middle Burner” (Soothing the Digestive Core)
How to Do It:
➡️Rub your palms together briskly to create warmth.
➡️Place your hands gently on your upper abdomen, just above your navel.
➡️Close your eyes and breathe deeply through your nose, allowing your belly to rise and fall naturally.
➡️Continue this for 1–2 minutes, focusing on warmth, calm, and belly relaxation.
Benefits:
This helps stimulate the Spleen and Stomach meridians, regulate digestion, and relieve stress held in the gut.
🧘♀️ Add Acupuncture for Deeper Gut Healing
While Qigong is a fantastic daily practice, combining it with targeted TCM therapies can provide even greater results. At Alternative Health Care Concepts, we regularly pair Qigong guidance with acupuncture treatments in Studio City and Burbank to help our patients rebalance their digestive systems.
Acupuncture points are selected to:
➡️Tonify Spleen Qi
➡️Clear Dampness
➡️Soothe the gut-brain axis
➡️Reduce inflammation or internal heat
Many of our patients dealing with IBS, acid reflux, or sluggish digestion see significant improvement by incorporating acupuncture in Studio City or acupuncture in Burbank alongside Qigong and dietary changes.
🌸 Daily Movement = Long-Term Gut Wellness
Remember, your gut thrives on rhythm and flow. Just as you nourish it with healthy food, it also needs gentle movement and emotional ease. Qigong offers a calming, centering way to connect with your body every day—no equipment or experience needed.
